Newborn Preparation

Getting your baby and family ready for the big day is simple and will make your session move along smoother. Please book your session in advanvce, I only do a limited number of newborns per week. The best time for the pictures is 5-14 days old so I try to book a week after your due date. We can move the date as needed of course since babies always have thier own agenda!

In Studio Session

When you come to my home for your newborn pictures you can relax, sip on some coffee and watch your newborns first big shoot. There are some simple guidelines for the night before and that morning.

-Please stay away from any spicy foods the night before if you are nursing or pumping, spicy foods tend to give babies upset tummies.

-Keep baby as alert and awake as you can 2-3 hour prior to the shoot. A little sponge bath works well! This will make sure your little bundle is nice and sleepy for photo time.

-Keep a loose fitting sleeper  on them, the zipper kind are wonderful! This eliminates sock lines and makes for an easier transition.

-A pacifier works very well when posing baby and I suggest bringing one along to help.

-Extra diapers, milk and wipes are also very helpful. Many of my poses have the diaper on under the wraps.

-If doing a family shot or sibling pictures I suggest cream, grey or black tops since the backdrop I use at the studio is cream or grey.

-I do use white noise and keep it warm so you may want to have a light shirt for comfort.

-If your bringing a sibling make sure you have snacks and some toys to entertain while we take pictures of the baby.

Your Home Session

I am happy to come to you if your looking for more lifestyle type images and a few studio setups. These types of sessions are wonderful for capturing your little ones nursery and family.

-Make sure the nursery is clean and ready for some pictures as well as any other spaces you would like to use. The family bed is always beautiful to get cuddling shots, as well as the family room.

-Keep your home warm for babies pictures. I will bring a space heater with me as well, and suggest we use a dark room for the individual newborn pictures so I can set up my light.

-If siblings are there and need naps please let me know prior so we can figure out the best time to capture the children's pictures.

-Please stay away from any spicy foods the night before if you are nursing or pumping, spicy foods tend to give babies upset tummies.
